Mental Health & Substance Use Outpatient Services - Vancouver General Hospital
Addictions / Substance Use and Mental Health - Adult
Provided by Vancouver Coastal Health
Provides short-term services for adults in Vancouver (19+) experiencing moderate to severe mental health or concurrent mental health and substance use disorders leading to impacted functioning in their daily living.
Vancouver MHSU Outpatient Services is a part of Vancouver Community Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) Services and aims to support and provide treatment up to 6 months.
Clients may access one or more of these time-limited supports:
Referral: Referrals are processed at the Access & Assessment Centre
Eligibility: For adults 19+ years old. Referrals must reside in the Vancouver area. For emergency services in Vancouver, call Access and Assessment Centre (AAC) at 604-875-8289.
For emergency services in Richmond, call Mental Health Emergency Services at 604-244-5562.
Patient Instructions: Please bring a list of your medications, supplements or vitamins that you may be taking. Please arrive 15 minutes early for your appointment as there are forms to be completed. Please be aware this is a teaching hospital and medical students/residents may be involved with your care. - Care Coordination – Ensuring successful connection to services and resources.
- Group Support – Group sessions with health care providers and/or peers.
- One-on-One Support – Individual sessions with health care providers and/or peers.
- Psychiatry Consultation – Meetings with a psychiatrist for assessment, treatment and coordination of care planning.
- Care planning
- Group programing
- Time limited 1:1 support
- Medication Education
- MHSU assessment and treatment
- Psychiatry consultations & treatment
- Skills building
- System Navigation
