Household Donations and Supplies - for Socially Vulnerable Populations

Provided by Helping Families in Need Society

The society picks up and distributes used household items to families in need.
The society is dedicated to assisting women in transition, single moms and dads on income assistance, new immigrants, refugees, fire victims and others in the Lower Mainland area by providing basic household necessities to relieve the cost of establishing a comfortable home. Along with general household items, the following specialty projects are also offered:
  • School Supplies: Distribute school supplies to families in need.
  • Books for Kids: Year-round they collect new and gently used children’s books and donate them to local school libraries for all to enjoy. They also donate books to reading programs for families.
  • Christmas Cheer: Provide gifts for Santa to give the children, as well as lunch and activities.
  • Birthday Registry: Provide registered children with birthday gifts during the year.
  • New and Used Clothing: Donations of new and used clothing are distributed where the need is greatest. They also support school clothing programs.
  • The Kitty Heller Education Endowment Fund: The Fund (up to $2000) was established to assist low income persons participate in career training courses and trade schools to gain the skills necessary to enhance future employment opportunities. Interested persons should complete the application.
