Transition House and Housing Outreach - For Women and Children Fleeing Violence

Also provides advocacy to assist women with obtaining financial assistance, accessing Multicultural Support Services, obtaining legal assistance, and finding housing. Many former clients keep in touch and regularly visit and access supports and services after their departure.
Wenda’s Place Second Stage Housing - Wenda’s Place second-stage housing provides individual, supportive housing units where women and their children may stay up to two years. Also provides support for women to achieve their goals and to develop the necessary skills to live independently and self-sufficiently. Services include individual and group counselling, structured activities for children and youth, life skills coaching, and resource information and referrals.
Third Stage Housing - Safe and affordable transitional housing for women and their children who are ready to live more independently after leaving a transition house or second-stage housing. Women and their children in our Third Stage program may access supports and services from staff.
Sustaining Women’s Success - Housing support for women and their children who are in the process of leaving Dixon House, Wenda’s Place, or Third Stage housing programs. Outreach staff work closely with the women to support them in their search for safe and affordable housing while connecting them with their new community. Outreach staff also support former residents of any of our programs. Offers a variety of individual support and group workshops throughout the year that empowers women to set goals, gain skills, and live independently. The workshops include topics such as financial literacy, resume building, self-defence, cybersecurity, income tax assistance, and more.
Stopping the Violence Counselling - Provides free professional individual counselling for women, age 19 and over, who live in Burnaby who have experienced violence in their relationships, sexual assault, or childhood abuse. The Stopping the Violence (STV) program provides free professional individual counselling for women, age 19 and over, who live in Burnaby who have experienced violence in their relationships, sexual assault, or childhood abuse. Counselling services are offered in a non-judgmental and safe environment to facilitate an understanding of the emotional and psychological responses to trauma as a result of abuse or violence.
Family Counselling - Provides free, professional counselling to adults as well as adolescents in conjunction with their parents or primary caregivers. Clients must reside in Burnaby and have children (or be otherwise directly involved with raising children) and have no major psychiatric diagnosis or mental health issues. Priority is given to referrals from the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
