Settlement and Integration Services

This program provides settlement and integration services to francophone immigrant population, permanent residents and refugees.
Francophone Settlement Program: Offers information or help regarding
  • Your new community
  • Housing, the banking system, the legal system, health care, daycares and schools, public transport
  • Forms and applications for government services
  • English through language support services
  • Making friends and social relationships or employment
  • Programs and services for youth, young adults and seniors
  • Preparation for the test of Canadian citizenship
  • Improving computer skills and more
  • Orientation and educational workshops and courses to help you settle in British Columbia.
Workshops:
  • Community Kitchen: This service is offered to newcomers and their families to participate in preparing a healthy and balanced meal and sharing it with other participants. Daycare available: advance registration required!
  • Workplace Conversation/English: This workshop assists newcomers to develop their English and facilitate their integration into the job market.
  • LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada): This service provides free English language learning for immigrants. LINC also provides basic language skills that will facilitate job search and integration, essential knowledge in health care, housing, banking, legal and political systems, as well as other aspects of Canadian society.

    The LINC program at Collège Éducacentre is currently offered at levels 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 in Vancouver, and 1 to 5 in Surrey.

    To Register: Simply contact one of the LINC Assessment Centers: the Western ESL Services Center or the Surrey Assessment Services to complete a registration form and take an assessment test that will confirm your level of proficiency in English.

    Admission Criteria: People with French as their first language, and all those who identified French as their first official language. And either:
    • Permanent residents of Canada
    • Persons protected under section 95 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA)
    • Individuals selected from Canada or abroad for permanent residence
